About

Hi, my name is Sze Wing and I am an AmeriCorps intern at the Teton Science Schools in Jackson, WY. This website is primarily about my experience as an AmeriCorps member, documenting my growth as an educator and the projects I helped with throughout my winter/spring term of 2016. Enjoy!

Bio

I grew up in a suburb outside of Philadelphia and attended the University of Maryland, where I majored in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Conservation Biology. While in college, I prepared for a career in wildlife conservation by joining The Wildlife Society and participating in several research internships, which you can read about in the "Experience" section of this website. After graduation I worked with the U.S. Forest Service in Montana before I landed in Jackson.

Through my coursework and internships, particularly one with the Philadelphia Zoo and another in a National Wildlife Refuge, I came to understand the value of education in my own life and in conservation. My interests in wildlife, land management, and climate change would not exist if I had not loved the natural environment and people, and I would not have loved them if I had not been educated to understand them. So, in order to learn about pedagogy and improve as an educator, I chose to participate in the AmeriCorps education internship at the Teton Science Schools.

Above in the slide show is a "path map" drawing of my experiences prior to arriving in Jackson.
